Let’s be honest – it can sometimes be hard to find family service opportunities. This year, Lutheran organizations in the Atlanta area have organized a Lutheran Day of Service on Monday, January 17. Schools are closed – instead of staying cooped up in the house all day, why not use the day off to serve those who need it most?
Southeastern Synod Lutheran Day of Service
Beginning at 9:00 AM, metro-Atlanta Lutherans will gather at the Porter Sanford III Performing Arts & Community Center (3181 Rainbow Drive, Decatur, GA 30034). Choose from two different projects – all projects will end by 1:30pm.
Rice for Refugee Families
Great for children of all ages, you will create family-sized rice packages from 50-pound bags of rice. Volunteers will repackage rice into usable five-pound packages that will be given to refugee families newly arrived in the Atlanta area. Rice is a main diet staple of these families. Last year’s rice project created a supply of rice that lasted almost six months!
